#21 - Goodnight Prayer

National Poetry Writing Month - April 2013

Poem #21

Goodnight Prayer

by Jeanie Killion

Time to rest,

To lay my body down;

To set my mind at ease;

To be held by Peace;

Embraced by Love.

Help my ears to hear

Your gentle voice

Say, “Don’t you worry

‘bout a thing!”

Let me hear you sing

Your joy-songs over me,

Sweet lullabies.

Then, I’ll close

These tired eyes in rest,

Well-loved child,

That I am.

Satisfied,

Consoled,

And blessed.

Goodnight, Daddy.

Goodnight.
