#3 - Mirror of Truth

National Poetry Writing Month - 2013

Day Three -- April 3rd

Mirror of Truth

by Jeanie Killion

Alone at last;

some time to bask

in the glory

and beauty

of You.

Your presence

is enthralling.

But in me,

what do you see?

That thought

is appalling.

Mud.

I look

into the mirror

and mud

is what I see.

Just earthenware

and cracked

at that.

But you whisper

that you've poured

your excellence

into the core

of me

until I'm filled

to overflowing

with all that

You are.

Tenderly,

you cradle

my face

in Your

gentle hands.

You turn

my gaze

away from

the mirror

and into your

shining eyes --

The perfect mirror.

It's there,

I see

the truth . . .

I was created

in Your

beautiful

likeness,

Your

wonderful

image.

You refine

my vision,

causing me

to see

what you see.

I look no longer

toward the mirror

to find my

true reflection.

Only

in your eyes.

can I see

the truth;

you show me

beauty

where no other

mirror would

find it -- in me.

I look

in wonder

at my reflection

in your eyes

and I'm

enthralled

at what

I see . . .

You!
